“It was very exciting. I did not know exactly what to expect as it was my first full-time position. It was also challenging as there was a lot of things to learn in the beginning but luckily there is always a helpful colleague to ask.”
“My main task is to contribute to ensuring a relevant and interesting assortment for our customers. I believe this is the most important task in commercial purchasing, and it can be solved in various ways. I like working with numbers and therefore I make many performance analyses to help the category manager making rational decisions. Moreover, I do have the responsibility for some smaller categories.
Fortunately, you have great influence on developing your role as a graduate according to your interest. Some of my interests are sustainability and supplier relationships. Therefore, I also work closely with our suppliers on both day-to-day issues and longer-term projects aiming at improving the overall relationship.”
“The graduate programme has definitely contributed to my professional and personal development. In a graduate position there is more room for errors and development. If I make a mistake, I always have experienced colleagues that are happy to help me correct it. Moreover, I always have the time I need to find out how I want to solve a new task which I believe is important for my understanding.
Personally, I have learned a lot about my interests, since I have had the opportunity to try many different tasks. Moreover, I have learned a lot about teamwork and how I work with others in a professional setting.”
“Be yourself and do not be nervous. JYSK are completely aware of the fact that they hire one directly from the University. They give a lot of room for adjusting to your new lifestyle and they give you a lot of influence on your position and daily tasks – thus, you can be sure that they will do their best to make every step of the way interesting."
